George Ward of Loughborough; until 1578, he is described simply as Ward the bearward of Loughborough; on 14 Oct 1578 (see below), he is specified as the Earl of Huntingdon's bearward, which might explain why his reward was increased to 10s.; Ward's burial was entered in the parish register for Loughborough in April 1600, describing him as 'the ould bearward', which suggests that he might have acted as that town's bearward; a George Ward married Alice Torr in Loughborough in July 1559; Ward was probably successed as Loughborough's bearward by Christopher Heamsworth, who was described as bearward in the parish register of Loughboroughon the registration of his wife's burial (probably in childbirth) in April 1605.
